Ooover #4

Name : Sukita "Ludeboy" Nikenta
Guitar
Birthday : 05/24/??
Blood Type : B
Home : Saitama
Favourite Musicians : Specials, English Beat, Madness

A mysterious character, Sukita played guitar in POPPERZ. It is not clear whether he left the band prior or was one of the disbanding members. Initially Hoover's Ooover was struggling to find a guitarist, being as the guitarist of ALPHABAM had been robbed and it was this that ultimately caused the band to form in the first place. Sukita offered to join Ooover around this time, after the ex-ALPHABAM guitarist had left town.

His guitar playing is inspired by British second wave ska / 2-Tone bands, although influenced by the fire of punk rock.

FUN FACT: Claims to have found his guitar lying discarded in the street. Before this he borrowed the guitars of friends.

Ooover #3

Name : Miyasaki Yoshio
Drums
Birthday : 08/03/??
Blood Type : B
Home : Saitama
Favourite Musicians : Pavarotti, George Formby

Was the drummer for ALPHABAM with Abe, notable for his frentic drumming style and rather unconventional musical influences compared to the other members. A few years older than the other members, he says when he started he wanted to emulate George Formby's strumming style into his drumming.

FUN FACT : A very big Pavarotti fan, greatly mourned his recent death.

Ooover #2

Name : Abe "Andrew" Hajime
Bass guitar
Birthday : 6/06/??
Blood Type : O
Home : Niigata
Favourite Musicians : XTC, Killing Joke

Formed ALPHABAM with childhood friend Yoshio Miyazaki in early high school years, but the band fell apart when their lead guitarist lost his instrument following a robbery. Abe joined Hoover's Ooover as a standin bassist initially, but eventually became a fully fledged member.

Abe is known for his rhythmic and frantic bass playing, influenced by British post-punk and new wave acts of the late 70s/early 80s. Cited influences include Youth from Killing Joke and Jah Wobble from Public Image Limited.

FUN FACT: He is a member of the Church Of The Subgenius, and has worn shirts displaying the Subgenius mascot Bob during gigs.

Ooover #1

Name : Masami Iwasawa
Vocals + Guitar
Birthday : 9/11/??
Blood Type : O
Home : Kanagawa
Favourite Musicians : The Smiths (Morrissey in particular)

Started as the singer for high school band POPPERZ, took up the guitar as well when she formed Hoover's Ooover. Notable for her very unique and extremely fast vocal style, and her sharp, witty, often rather feminist lyrics.

FUN FACT: I hope she doesn't mind me telling you this. But despite not seeming like the type, she has a large interest in S&M and sometimes works as a Mistress on the side. What can I say? Maybe hardcore Ooover fans will want to arrange a session?

Ooovideo

Scavanged from the ever popular Youtube, here are two Ooover videos for your viewing pleasure. Seemingly the only Ooover videos around, Anyway, enjoy.

Whilst Adam & Joe got their name incorrect, they did call them "fantastic" which is very, very correct.

Same song, but the startling promotional video this time!

Oooversight

First things first, the band name is Hoover's Ooover. There has been a lot of confusion over how the name is spelt. Adam & Joe referred to them as Hoover Over, and Hoover's Oover actually returns more results than the correct spelling. Time to clear this up once and for all, with our pocket sized Hoover's Ooover spelling guide:

Hoover's - Spelt like the vacuum. Now remember that the next part of the band name belongs to the hoover, grammatically speaking. The ooover belongs to the hoover. That's an easy way of remembering that it's Hoover's, not Hoover, Hover or anything like that.

Ooover - Now this is the most common Oooversight of them all. Not Over or Oover - Ooover! It's like Hoover but with an O instead of a H. Exact same number of letters, just the first one is different.

Now there is no excuse for anyone to misspell the name of this band, so you won't look stupid in front of your mates.

Oooverture

After the break-ups of two Tokyo High School bands, "Popperz" and "Alphabam" respectively, two members of each of the bands, who still wanted to continue playing joined together in 2002 to form the band we know today as Hoover's Ooover. Quickly taking the Tokyo Indie Scene by storm with their unique, evolving style the band already has many releases under their name, and they are going from strength to strength. After a sellout tour of Japan they even took the time out to appear on British show Adam & Joe Go Tokyo, which gained them a following in the West.

This site offers to bring you all the latest news, information, and facts about this relatively obscure band, THE ONLY English source for Hoover's Ooover!
